Mouth Guards

Mouth guards can be utilized for multiple reasons. Their main function is to prevent tooth damage.  Many people are afflicted with bruxism, also known as grinding your teeth. Some people may do this consciously during the day, but it is a larger problem at night while you are asleep. Grinding your teeth can damage enamel, wear down teeth, cause cracks in your teeth and jaw pain. If you suffer from bruxism, a night guard is a beneficial way to decrease the effects of bruxism. Night guards are custom fitted for comfort, allow proper breathing and provide a barrier between your top and bottom teeth while you sleep.  An impression of your teeth is taken and the dental lab creates the night guard specifically for your mouth.

Another type of mouth guard available is a protective mouth guard. Protective mouth guards are an essential piece of equipment in contact sports. They should be worn by athletes of all ages in order to prevent structural damage to your teeth. They can also help prevent lacerations to your cheeks, tongue and lips. Even though protective mouth guards can be purchased at sporting goods stores, they are not one size fits all. For the highest level of comfort and protection, we recommend a custom made protective mouth guard. Similar to a night guard, an impression of your teeth is taken and it is fabricated to specifically fit your mouth.
